Harlem in Havana NYC lit up New York City with a full-day celebration of history, performance, and legacy—honoring the world of Leon Claxton’s Harlem in Havana revue in true cinematic and live performance form.

The day began at the New York Library for the Performing Arts, where audiences gathered for the New York premiere of the documentary film JIG SHOW | Leon Claxton’s Harlem in Havana. On the big screen, Claxton’s groundbreaking traveling revue came alive again—its rhythm, glamour, and cultural impact resonating with a new generation while honoring those who remember its magic firsthand.

The film screening included an art talk with filmmaker Leslie Cunningham and a special performance by burlesque artist Bebe Bardeaux.

As evening fell, the energy shifted to the David Rubenstein Atrium at Lincoln Center, where the celebration continued with Brown Skin Showgirls: A Harlem in Havana Tribute Show. The stage came alive with music, dance, and showmanship inspired by the legacy of Harlem in Havana—an electric tribute to the artistry, beauty, and brilliance that defined an era.

From film to stage, from archive to living memory, the day held space for history to breathe, move, and shine.
