The Brown Skin Showgirl Dolls: A Tribute in Miniature

The Brown Skin Showgirl Dolls bring the extraordinary legacy of the Harlem in Havana revue to life in exquisite, three-dimensional form. Created by doll collector and fashion artist Traci Cunningham—Leslie’s sister and founder of the House of Bellaraci—each doll is a handcrafted homage to the performers who lit up mid-century stages with unmatched glamour and power.

Standing 17 inches tall, every doll features a costume that Traci has designed, drafted, and hand-beaded with meticulous precision, echoing the artistry of the era’s legendary costume designers. These couture creations transform archival images into wearable miniature masterpieces, honoring the beauty, pride, and resilience of the showgirls who defined the golden age of Black and Afro-Caribbean entertainment. “Black children and collectors deserve dolls that represent them. I love bringing these little treasures back to life for all to enjoy,” says Traci.

More than collectibles, the Brown Skin Showgirl Dolls serve as living tributes—joyful, empowering symbols that celebrate the brilliance, boldness, and groundbreaking spirit of the original performers. They inspire new generations of children, artists, and collectors while preserving a vibrant chapter of cultural history.
